We are loving Lotta Jansdotter's newest line from Windham Fabrics, "Echo"!  The pattern, "PDQ" from Swirly Girls makes this a quick project.  This is crib size and perfect for a baby boy or girl.  Of course, I would love a King Size version for myself!

We are busy getting ready for our Fat Quarter Frenzy Sale scheduled for this Sunday, February 5th.  All sale fat quarters will be $1 on Super Bowl Sunday!

We have 2 classes lined up for February.

On Friday, February 24th I will be teaching the "Tea Party" Quilt.  Use pre cut 2 1/2 inch strips for this modern quilt.  This workshop is from 10:30 to 3:30.  Call the shop to register. 802-824-5700.

Free Motion Quilting Workshop!  Saturday, February 18th, 1:30-3:30.  You CAN quilt your own smaller projects yourself!  Explore drawing with  thread and needle with Shelley.  You need to work with your own sewing machine and darning foot for this class.

During the month of February, join us for Finishing School on Sundays, Noon- 4pm.  You can work on UFO's ($15)  or schedule your own class  during this time for $25 per hour.  This fee can be split between several students that are all sewing the same project.  There is no Finishing School the last Sunday in February.

Jane Sassaman's "Early Birds" fabric was a perfect choice for this wall hanging!

During the month of March is the Vemont Shop Hop!  Buy a passport for tons of quilting fun and visit 16 fabulous Quilt Shops, March 16th thru the 25th!  We will be open 9-6 daily including Monday!  On Sunday the 25th we will close at 3 pm.

April is the time to take advantage of "off season" rates at many Inns and B&B's in southern Vermont.  We love The Landgrove Inn which is 5 minutes from the Shop.  They have cut their prices 40% and lodging includes Breakfast and Dinner!  Come and sew at the WWHQS Friday thru Sundays in April.   Workshops include, "Paintsticks", ""Modern Quilt Blocks", "The Rainbow Quilt, Mastering Color, "Mixed Media Art Quilting",and more.We must have 4-10 people to run a sewing retreat.  Call the shop for more information.

We are so excited to be highlighted in this year's issue of Quilt Almanac.  The magazine features an article about the Vermont Shop Hop 2012, March 16th-25th. The WWHQS porch was one of the photos chosen to be part of the article.  Here is a peek inside...

This new book by Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr have us just dying to make a "transparency" quilt!  We have all the tone on tones and solids to make a stunning example.

Wow, what fun we will have sewing a sample from this book by Tricia Cribbs.  These patterns call for 20 fat quarters or scraps.  Love the modern mosaic look of these quilts!

Pre-cut strips make piecing easy and fun!  We have several designer 2 1/2" precut strips for your sewing pleasure!  We also have lots of patterns and books to take advantage of these handy strips.

A new display of delightful COLOR!

We have some wonderful, woodsy flannels for a warm winter quilt!  Oh, and this is a Turning 20 pattern, fast and easy.

Treasure's and Tidbits from "Piece O'Cake" Designs is a wonderful retro fabric line.  We have fat quarter bundles and yardage as well as their latest pattern for Applique, "Fresh Picked Posies".  We can kit up this quilt for you.  Nine patch blocks surround a machine appliqued center block.

Back in stock...

Back in stock is Lake Houses' brightly colored alphabet panel.  Fussy cut the alphabet into 5 1/2" squares and pair with 5 1/2" squares of companion fabrics.  The border is those squares cut in half and sewn end to end.  Quick and delightful!  Kits available.

This pattern is by Sweet Jane's Quilting Design, "Flowers in the Sunshine.  I used Lecien Fabrics from two lines, "Happy Mochi Yum Yum" by Monica Solorio- Snow and "Flower Sugar" paired with Kona White.  Very fresh and sweet!

Our Shop Hop fabric 2012 from Hoffman is now in the shop.  We have Hoffman specially design and print fabrics for the shops that particiapate in the Vermont Shop Hop.  You can only get this fabric from one of these shops.  Come in and buy a Passport for 10 days of quilting fun in Vermont! View these lovely Batiks in person! Passports are $6 and are available at any participating shop.

Each shop will design their own sewing project for the Hop.  I have lots of ideas in my head and will be starting one soon.  Free copies of the patterns from each shop will be available to Passport Holders only during the Hop.  We will also have kits available for Hoppers.

Did you know we have Designer Scrap Bags for $9.99?  After we make a sample, we gather coordinated large scraps to equal 1 yard of fabric.  These bags make great additions to any stash.  We also sell "Grab Bags" full of scraps at $3 per pound!  These are all from new fabric lines not old stuffy stuff!

A few more kits to mention...

We have this "Swirly Girl" "Perfect 10" pattern made up in Kaffe Fassett prints.  The large floral squares are actually cut from a panel we have in several colorways.  And if you haven't made a "Fruitcake" Quilt yet, here is a beautiful example in rich autumnal colors and jewel tones...

Kits are available.  We used all Kaffe Fassett, Philip Jacobs and Brandon Mabley prints, naturally!

Jazzy January

Happy New Year Friends!  We are very "jazzed" about our new line up of classes for January.  Truddi Greene will return with two new classes...

Convergence Quilts on Friday, January 27th.  Here is another example of Truddi's work

Another Convergence Quilt.  This method was developed by the Cowboy Quilter, Ricky Tims.  Large blocks are pieced together and then cut and reassembled.  You can get very creative with large prints and special borders.

Truddi will also be teaching the "Sunburst" block...

This is paper pieced.  The block can be the focal point of a larger quilt or wall hanging or can be a very cool pillow.  Again, our larger prints work very well with this block.

We are very excited to be offering a new Modern Quilting Series.  We will meet the 4th Wednesday of each month thru May.  Using the book,  "Modern Blocks" we will explore the construction of these blocks to make a contemporary sampler style quilt.  The book contains blocks from some of our favorite designers, compliled by Susanne Woods.

We will be offering this book at a deep discount for our workshop members!

Shelley will be teaching from the pattern by Sweet Jane called "Tea Party", no political affiliation here!  This is a jelly roll friendly quilt that contains a partial seam.  No sweat...Shelley will guide you thru this process.

This will be taught on Saturday, January,14th from 1- 3:30 pm.  Jess will teach her Ruffled Couture Clutch on Saturday, January 28th, 10:30-3:30 pm

This class includes a frame kit included in the class fee!

If you buy a jelly roll from the shop, you can take the "Mile A Minute" class for FREE!

This class is on Thursday, January 26th, 1:30-3:30 pm.

Big Big News!  We are now selling and repairing sewing machines.  We are carrying 4 models of Juki Sewing Machines.   Come in and test drive these new models.

We have the Exceed series and the TL2010 straight stitch Quilter's edition.  These machines are real work horses.  When you purchase a machine from us, you will get training and service right here at the shop.  We will make sure you are happy with your machine!

More December Delights

Quilting Arts Magazine Calendar 2012- Cover Artist, Jill Packer, Chesham, UK.  "Isabella Iguana".
This is the best quilting art calendar we have seen to date!  Each month displays a different 12"x12" embellished art quilt featuring the artist's pets.  Amazing!  We still have some in stock.

This is January by Nancy Brown, Oakland California.  "Opie and Mittens Go Bird Watching"  The calendar includes 2012 Quilt Show Listings.

These are probably the only snowballs we will be seeing here in Vermont before Christmas.  Oh well, at least they won't melt.  3" Styrofoam balls for fabric decor.  You can celebrate any holiday with these ornamental lovelies.  Valentine's Day orbs will be next...

Gotta share this cool idea from Truddi Greene. A quilted hot plate.  Inside is a tile that can be heated to keep food warm or used just to protect your table.  Here is a back view...

We have been selling so many 3" styrofoam balls lately that our Distributor must think we are crazy as we reorder and reorder...straight pins too, thousands of them to make these easy and addictive holiday ornaments.  The pattern is an adaptation designed by our favorite pattern maker, Jess Vandenburgh.  We have a class scheduled for Friday, December 9th 10:30-12:30.

We have a wool penny rug workshop scheduled for Wednesday, December 14th, 10:30-3:30.  Shelley will present several of her own designs and help you get started on a stocking, ornaments or table mat.

The"Lily Apron" class is scheduled for Thursday, December 8th, 10:30-3:30 or Friday, December 30th.  Quick and easy, also a great gift.

This "Stand and Stow" Tote bag from Atkinson Designs, folds flat for packing and is a fantastic pattern.  You can make this tote in 3 sizes. This is the medium bag.

It stands, due to the heavy peltex interfacing that is fused between the lining and the outside of the bag in a very clever way!
